John Wayne Gacy's home at 8213 West Summerdale Avenue in Des Plaines, Illinois hosted the 1970's most depraved crimes: 33 homicides by a maniac later called "The Killer Clown". In March 1979 the home was leveled by Judge's order. For years the lot sat vacant, a stark reminder of the victims Gacy buried there while masquerading as an upright citizen.
During the demo, a Mt. Prospect laborer carried home debris as souvenirs, mortifying his family. Now, long after Gacy's execution, they're relics of a defining moment in 'serial killer culture'.
Included with the provenance parcel is a letter written by a relative of the laborer(s) who removed the debris in 1979. Plus, private correspondence from Gacy to a Chicagoland Judge whose father ordered Gacy's home demolished and who, decades later, owned the debris.

"Joyce. I'm sure you know by now that uncle Link got Jonny on the Gacy home knockdown but he disobeyed orders and hauled a bunch of that debris up here. I have forbidden him to keep any of it here...Tell Link that Jonny will need help getting it moved from the garage, to where I have no idea...sooner the better."
